Welcome to Life Mend Psychotherapy

Mending Lives Through Healing and Empowerment

You have taken your first step in this journey of change.

Welcome to Day One of the New You.

You are here because something has happened in your life that’s causing you distress and you need some support, guidance, skill building and care planning.

Let’s see how I can help you achieve your goals — or I think of them as promises you have made to yourself.

Let me introduce myself.

I’m Carrie Anne. I am a psychotherapist and social worker, with a Master’s degree in Social Work from the University of Windsor and I have been practicing since 2005.

I am here to support you through this difficult time.

Psychotherapy can be a very effective and evidence based treatment to help us process change, transition, grief and loss. It can also help us observe ourselves, our current situation with an objective person for reflection. Quite often we find our own voice again and make the necessary transitions for ourselves. As well, decades of neuroscience and research have shown validation, active listening, physical support for consistency and accountability, skill building and practical coping strategies can help you move forward and live your life more effectively. I am here to help you achieve your goals and keep those promises to live life more fully.

I have worked with people from all walks of life in my years of practice, in residential, community and hospital settings. From my years of front line work in residential addiction treatment, needle exchange and harm reduction programs– to working in a hospital setting with patients in an inpatient mental health setting– to years of community practice meeting clients managing chronic illness in their homes– to my years of creating social programs in trauma, concurrent disorders, free drop in counselling and LGBTQIA+ support groups– I bring a great deal of work and life experience to help you manage your current challenges, I am passionate about providing accessible, culturally humble support and counsel – with a focus on trauma work level 1, gender identity and addiction medicine treatment options.

I also specialize in working with LGBTQQIA+ and gender diverse individuals. I have obtained my intensive sexual health certificate from the University of Guelph to allow me to provide sexual health education and support through gender identity transitioning.

Let’s talk. I offer virtual psychotherapy, both telephone and video counselling in the comfort of your own home. This allows you the added accessibility and convenience of my support in the midst of your busy schedule.

Do you want to do more, be more, accomplish more, but don’t know where to begin? Are you feeling stuck in the same behaviours and want to make a change?

I’m here to help you get started.

My mission to to connect and help you mend and heal from life’s transitions and challenges.

A Life Changing Experience

“I sincerely appreciate the information and guidance through a very difficult time in my life. Anyone who is struggling with ADHD, addiction and PTSD needs to see Carrie Anne. She is very skilled and bring a wealth of experience with CBT and DBT to each meeting. She helped me get through some very dark days and I am forever grateful for her support.”

If you are looking for an LGBTQIA+ safe space, this is your new therapist. My partner and I were in the process of IVF and as a non-binary and trans F-T-M partnership — it was hard to find a therapist who understood our needs with our polyamourous partnership. She was tremendously helpful to connect to community resources but also the emotional toll was overwhelming at times. I am so happy we reached out to her to book sessions. She was wonderful as we took our next steps to building our family. Highly recommended”.

Truly Thankful for Carrie Anne

“I made an appointment following the death of my mother and brother- and she guided me through my grief, emotions, pain and life transition, from being an orphan in the world to finding new purpose and meaning in life, I am where I am today because of her support and empowerment. Thank you so much.”

” An Excellent Virtual Therapist”

“It took me a lot of courage to connect with a virtual therapist and then find one who had an antiracist trauma informed approach to therapy. I appreciate all our discussions about how I can check my white privilege and how to be a good ally and accomplice to BIPOC folks, but also how to use my voice and advocate for social change part of community wellness.”
