So Who Am I?

About Carrie Anne

Welcome! Whether you say Willkommen, ¡Bienvenido/a!, Bienvenue, Benvenuto/a, Bem-vindo/a, Välkommen, Hoş geldin, Witaj, Selamat datang, Marhaba, Ahlaan, 你好, 欢迎, Добро пожаловать, or 환영합니다, the warmth of the greeting is universal.

My name is Carrie Anne. Thank you for connecting.

I am registered with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers and have been a practicing social worker since 2005. I have had many employment opportunities in many different settings over the years, which have given me a solid foundation and expertise in my field. This also has allowed me to learn how to navigate the health care and social service system as it can be challenging, especially when you are feeling overwhelmed.

I am also a woman, a mother, a partner, a daughter, a friend and cat mama. I have lived from one end of Ontario to the other – Windsor, the Niagara Region, Burlington, Toronto and now making Ottawa my home. I have worked through some very challenging times in my life with many transitions, losses, struggle, grief and pain. After the loss of a parent and the complicated experience of grief and loss, and being relieved from being a caregiver for more than 2 decades, the experience shaped me in valuing life more mindful, present and fully participating each and every day. I decided to put more kindness and compassion in my days and I made a huge life transition to change my employer for more work/life balance. With more time for my family, my child and myself. With new future career goals for podcasts, writing a book, and consistent health and wellness in my daily practice. Personal goals and hobbies to share, I am an avid weightlifter, artist, cookie baker and gardener.

And at my core, my values and belief systems guide me to my own truth — I believe in all aspects of wellness — physically, mentally, socially and spiritually. I am caregiver, helper, listener and a social justice advocate. I am here to share and remind you pain is inevitable as part of our human experience and that suffering is optional. You too can heal and mend. And you are here, so you are taking steps to find the best path forward.

I can offer a safe secure healing space, one with humility respect, compassion to see adult individuals. I provide an anti-racist, anti-oppressive, de colonial and trauma informed practice with cultural humility and an intersectional feminist approach. I feel it can be challenging to find a psychotherapist that is a good fit based on a number of reasons. Therefore, I do offer a 15 minute consultation free of charge. If after that time, you decide to move on, that’s more than okay, no hard feelings. I want you to find someone who is a solid fit for your own needs at this stage in life. I am also happy to recommend my colleagues who specialize as well should you require additional therapy resources.

All are welcome to connect with me for private practice to ask questions and see if I am able to provide the support and guidance you are searching for during this life transition.

I am hopeful we can collaboratively mend and heal the emotional trauma and pain you are experiencing with support, kindness and compassion.

I look forward to talking with you soon.

Warmly,

Carrie Anne
